Years of government cuts, the weakening of statutory bodies, and the degradation of our most important wildlife sites are symptoms of a system that no longer prioritises nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This cannot continue. We need a new approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the next three years, we aim to lead a fundamental shift in how nature conservation operates in Wales \u2014 by placing accountability at the heart of the sector. experienced Journalists, Campaigners and Researchers who will help uncover, expose and challenge the issues affecting nature recovery in Wales, along with proposing appropriate solutions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"cf-text cf-text--body cf-text--thin cf-text--spacer1\"><strong>&#8220;Nature in Wales is in a terrible state. A large part of that is a government that doesn\u2019t seem to care about wildlife, and the almost complete absence of a statutory environmental body. If we are ever going to reverse the woeful position wildlife finds itself in, then we need to hold decision makers to account. Wild Cymru&#8217;s project will do just that. It will challenge and expose the actions and inactions of those that nature should be able to rely on&#8221;<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"cf-text cf-text--body cf-text--thin cf-text--spacer1\"><strong>Iolo Williams<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"cf-text cf-text--body cf-text--thin cf-text--spacer1\"><strong>TV Presenter, Naturalist &amp; Wild Cymru&#8217;s Honorary President<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"cf-text cf-text--body cf-text--thin cf-text--spacer1\"><strong>Why do we need this?<\/strong> It is hard to admit, but the nature conservation sector in Wales is losing its fight to save wildlife and habitats. Central to this critical decline is the continuing failure of Government and its statutory body Natural Resources Wales to fulfil their roles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"cf-text cf-text--body cf-text--thin cf-text--spacer1\">Cuts in funding, cuts to conservation staff and the demise of our most precious wildlife sites across Wales are all symptoms of a Government that does not value nature.<\/p>\n<p class=\"cf-text cf-text--body cf-text--thin cf-text--spacer1\">This must change. <strong>We need to start doing things differently.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"cf-text cf-text--body cf-text--thin cf-text--spacer1\">Over the next three years we want to pioneer a fundamental shift in the nature conservation sector that will see greater emphasis being placed on holding environmental decision makers to account.<\/p>\n<p class=\"cf-text cf-text--body cf-text--thin cf-text--spacer1\">We want to achieve this by exposing and challenging attitudes, inaction, and decision making, where it has the potential to impact wildlife and nature conservation in Wales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"cf-text cf-text--body cf-text--thin cf-text--spacer1\">To do all this effectively we need your help.
