We need your help to create a Nature Investigations Unit for Wales – to help stop the ongoing attack on nature and to hold environmental decision makers to account.

Our Nature Investigations Unit will consist of experienced Journalists, Campaigners and Researchers who will help uncover, expose and challenge the issues affecting nature recovery in Wales, along with proposing appropriate solutions.

“Nature in Wales is in a terrible state. A large part of that is a government that doesn’t seem to care about wildlife, and the almost complete absence of a statutory environmental body. If we are ever going to reverse the woeful position wildlife finds itself in, then we need to hold decision makers to account. Wild Cymru’s project will do just that. It will challenge and expose the actions and inactions of those that nature should be able to rely on”.

Why do we need this? It is hard to admit, but the nature conservation sector in Wales is losing its fight to save wildlife and habitats. Central to this critical decline is the continuing failure of Government and its statutory body Natural Resources Wales to fulfil their roles.

Cuts in funding, cuts to conservation staff and the demise of our most precious wildlife sites across Wales are all symptoms of a Government that does not value nature.

This must change. We need to start doing things differently.

Over the next three years we want to pioneer a fundamental shift in the nature conservation sector that will see greater emphasis being placed on holding environmental decision makers to account.

We want to achieve this by exposing and challenging attitudes, inaction, and decision making, where it has the potential to impact wildlife and nature conservation in Wales.

To do all this effectively we need your help. We are so close, and have raised over £180,000 already.
